On my 72 I had to replace the "Power Brake Booster", I'm not sure if there is an easy way to check to see if it is good or not.

Sounds like the brake booster is bad. Check to see if the vac. supply is good first.

I would start with the simple stuff, verify the brake booster check valve is working or just replace it since it's an inexpensive part. Look for brake fluid in the check valve or vacuum line which would indicate a leak in the master cylinder. If applying the brake seems to need both feet to stop I would say the booster is likely the source but if the pedal simply goes to the floor it's more than likely the master cylinder/air in the lines. The interesting part though is if the only change you made was new calipers and things were ok prior to this work it seems more likely that opening the system is what started the problem. You may need to bleed the master cylinder if you haven't already, a brake booster failure is possible and would certainly be coincidental. Good luck and let us know the outcome

Explain "did." Did you replace the master cylinder and the calipers?

I hope you bench bled the master before installing it.

Did complete brake system on my 1980 and i mean everything including all the hard lines on the frame. I started by making sure i had no loose fittings. Next i bench bled the master cylinder. I had a loose fitting on that while i was bleeding the master, and couldnt get the air to stop? So i tightened the plastic fittings a bit more and we had it. No more air in the master. Next i have 2 brake bleeding cups.So i started at the drivers side rear inner bleed screw and the pass front opened both screws and let gravity do its thing till no more fluid was moving. Next called buddy to come over and sit in the car. We followed this process. I opened the bleeder screw and he pushed the pedal to the floor and i closed the bleeder screw. We did that till we started to get some pedal, there was no sense in pumping it up and then opening the bleeder ? so once we got pedal i moved to the outer bleeder screw, then to the pass side rear same thing, then the fronts. All the while topping up the master so it didnt run out. Did this 2-3 times, and in about an hour we were done.Once we got a hard pedal, Cory would pump up the brakes, and then i would crack the bleeder screw open to let the air out if there was any.

Sounds like you may have air someplace in your system as a possible cause. Air is compressable, fluid is not. So if its a soft peddal,,, air may be the culprit. Proper bleeding of the system is very important. I've had to go thru a couple of bottles of fliud to get them bleed completely out. Of course all the advise above is very good. Let us know how this turns out & thanks for the post. 7D4
