I just ordered a new set of pipes for my 82.  I opted for the 2.5 inch "true duals", and noticed that the product description says a 20 to 30 hp increase is possible.  Personally I think that may be a stretch, but I could be wrong.  I'm a long way from getting my 82 back on the road, so can someone enlighten me on the real results, will this make any difference at all?  Thanks!  Undecided

I put a set of true duals on my '80 years ago and it made a difference. But that could have been because the "Bubba" that had my car before me had the old cat on backwards. However, at the time I could feel a difference. I'm not sure about the 20 to 30 HP gain, but it does help. Since then I've added headers and a crate motor which really woke it up. Be careful of emission laws since the cats will be gone.

Yes a true dual exhaust with no cats can add 20 to 30 sometimes even more. If you run long tube headers and a true 2.5 system with a X-pipe you will get a big gain. You will feel it with your ass dyno lol. Engines are big air pumps make it easy to get more air in and out and they make more power lol.

Your 82 will be limited to the cross fire tune. The carb cars can be tuned to get the most out of them and run way way better then stock. Cross fire can be tuned just not easy and only so much you can do. 85 fuel pump and bigger injectors and TBs helps but the intake is very poor. I do a swap from cross fire to carb for customers and it makes a huge difference.
