So i was lookin around for new manifolds for my 79 and came across these modified manifolds. My stock passenger side manifold has a leak so i want to upgrade. I was looking into headers but they seem kinda pricey for parts and installation so I'm going to stick to stock or similar. I figured these modified ones would be easier than headers. Any opinions or suggestions are welcome

Those look like a good alternative to headers. If you could get them ceramic coated, that would be ideal.  Wink Wink

Look at those with the 2.5" ports!! Those would be really nice with a nice flowing exhaust system. Those should help wake up your 79.

My .02:  put the stock units back on it.  He wants $225 a pop for only a 6 hp gain.  Stock units are about $100 cheaper per side.

Geez, for that kind of money you could get a nice set of ceramic shorty headers.  Wink Wink

Word to the wise, stay away from shorty headers. they dont fit worth a crap. I sent mine back to summit in exchange for full length headers.

It might just depend on who you get them from. My shorties fit just fine. Although, you'd think if you got them from Summit they would fit properly.

I ran shorties on my stock small block for years and they worked good. The only thing I would recommend on any header is to get some kind of locking fastener so the bolts will not back out and give you a leak. I have always used Stage 8 locking fasteners and have been well pleased.
