My car has a few battle scars and stone chips and since im just about done with everything else and my last major project is paint, I was thinking of painting it black but my wife thinks I should stay with the same color sky blue with a white pearl. I know black is a pain to keep clean but im ok with that and I can get the body 100% perfect to paint it black. What do you guys think??

Well, I am kind of partial to black vettes. I am on my 3rd black vette. Like you have said it is a little more work to keep clean. If you make the body 100% perfect, it makes it even worse to keep. Mine is pretty close to 100% and you pay for that but it makes the best looking job in the end. It also makes me want to keep it clean and for that, I think I may drive it less but it does not stop me from driving it. I also do not ride my motorcycle very much either. Its an 05 with about 3700 miles on it.

+1 for black, when the time comes to repaint my vette I plan on going with black just like my 04 Avalanche.

Black can be a pain to keep clean, but when it's done right, there's nothing better.

I think someone once said back in the 60's ..."Black is Beautiful" They must have been referring to a black Corvette!! Love my original black on black 79.

Really don't want to be an outcast, but ,I think the color on your car now is pretty cool. It's different and and works well with your exterior mods.Just don't see alot of vettes that color.Counterpoint is:How can you go wrong with black?I mean just take a look at eddie 70 's pics.I think WOW sums it up pretty well. It's your decision ,good luck.Rick

I am just re painting my 82 as well. I am torn between keeping it the original color or changing. The problem is that the ID tag looks as if it should be silver blue , but the car is 2 tones , silver blue on top and dark blue on the bottom. So the answer is, it is your car, what makes you the happiest?

I am re-painting my 74 now and it was the what some call the "rare brown metallic" couldn't paint it brown because I thought it would look better yellow!.....so I painted it the correct yellow that the 74's came with, in my opinion it looks much better than the brown.....you can remove the original paint/interior code tag from the drivers side front door post and save it......Fred
