Just bought my first vette. it is an 82. The previous owner removed the cross fire injection system and installed a carb. The electric fuel pump is still the fuel supply system. He installed a pressure regulating valve and set the pressure for 6 PSI. THe car quit running and my mechanic bypassed the PRV and connecter directly to the pressure guage at the carb. THe electric fuel pump is onlty making 5PSI with no return line to the tank. Any one have the same senario and can tell me where to look for the pressure drop. THe fuel pump is only 7 months old and is for an 85.

Did you check the fuel filter?

The stock fuel pump on a cross fire should be putting out min 12-14 pounds of pressure! If you don't have a return line and/or the filter is clogged it might be the cause of your low pressure, but I would guess that the cross fire was replaced because the fuel pump was putting out too low pressure and that caused the cross fire to really do strange things! Replace the fuel pump and put in a return line. You can use a 85 pump if you need more pressure.
