I need to install a sump on the bottom of my gas tank. I orderd a sump but it looks like its not going to work on my tank. I need to run a -10 fuel line and -8 return. Anyone running a sump? Any ideas?

Just asking here, but why do you need a sump? How about just installing an AN adapter in the tank? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-670870/Put the return in the upper side of the tank, and the pickup at the rear and done. All that takes is drilling a hole.

just putting a fitting on the bottom of the tank is not a good idea since there is a chance of not getting fuel under hard acceleration. If that happens on nitrous my engine is toast.

That explains a lot!! Can you make a sump out of some sheet metal and the tig it to the bottom where it'll clear the spare? THat way you can make one side taller/shorter/different shape.

That is looking like my only option. I removed the spare tire and carrier awhile back and got rid of it so I have room for my fuel system.

I saw a system someplace the guy had a large fuel cell for pump gas, and then another small cell for "real" gas when he got on the bottle.

I've been watching this thread but haven't said anything but what you described is what we used to do 20 years ago when NOS was in it's early years. We used the factory fuel tank for the engine and another small tank with 110 octane race gas and a second electric fuel pump and steel braided line to the solenoids so there wouldn't be a lean out condition. This second tank was only 2.5 -5 gallons which would usually last a few runs but easy enough to refill, granted we had cars at that time with trunks. Now where to mount this with the tremendous amount of room we have with our vettes is back in your court well now that I think about it, depending on how creative you want to be or destructive with your car, if you used an aluminum cylinder styled tank there is probably enough space to make some brackets and mount it in the left rear quarter panel area above the exhaust where the radio antenna is located, remove the antenna and open up the hole for the antenna and use it for the fill spout and cap and wrap the tank in heat shields or pads if it's too close to the exhaust. I haven't done this it just came to mind as I was typing so feel free to deep six the idea since it was totally spontaneous  Anyway, good luck your on the right track and I look forward to seeing what you end up doing.

It looks like I will make my own sump on the bottom of my tank. I have a spare fuel tank that I will try this on but so far I have made the sump and tig welded it together. Now I gotta punch holes and weld on the bung.
