Hi,A while back I posted a wanted ad for a steering wheel. Thanks to vetteonr and palmbeachvette for their input,I went with the all wood wheel and I love it.Just a side note,if anyone wants to change from the vega wheel to the sport wheel,a special hub is needed.I was lucky to find one in Texas with the horn parts and horn cap. From this

To this

Sorry about the rest of the mess.Rick

Cool steering wheel looks great and did you paint or replace the needles when you did the white gages?

When I did mine I just got some paint and painted them. With a steady hand it's pretty easy.

The needles on the small gauges are short enough that you can work the overlay on the face without removing the needles. The tach and speedo have much longer needles that require removing them. The tach needle popped right off but the speedo needle broke Angry.Had to mess around  and make a sleeve to join the shafts together. Not a lot of fun.My needles were white and and used( of all wierd things) my wifes brightest red nail polish and they look pretty good.Rick

Same thing happened to me, but mine broke right down near the face so I can't sleeve it. I tried. I'll probably have to send it out for a rebuild.

I was thinking of buying another speedo head as I think my fix is a band aid at best.I'll wait and see what turns up.More concerned with making the car more presentable by redoing the hood stripe and the nose right now.Rick

Hi 7D4,Look at the before and after pics.My original has the hub and wheel combined and the new wheel requires a separate hub and horn parts, there are also differences between tele scopic columns and non.If you can remove your horn cap and remove the screws to remove the wheel, all you would need is a new wheel.Palmbeachvette and vetteonr were a lot of help with this project.Let me know if you need anything else.Rick
