For some reason the inside of the cabin gets really hot. It's like the air from the engine compartment is being sucked into the cab. For a while I had an exhaust leak but that's fixed. It feels like it could be coming from the console possibly because my leg gets really hot. I'm sure with the windows down there is a lower pressure inside the cabin contributing to this problem. But if the cab is sealed off enough it should only be firewall heat to deal with.

How many places are there for engine compartment air to be drawn into the cabin?

Is there a insulator sheet that can help with firewall temps.

This has to be an issue with other owners so I'd like to know what you did to relieve the cabin temps.

Thanks for all the help & suggestions. I'll try them all Smiley

C3's are notorious for interior heat. It's not usually from the firewall, but from underneath. One solution is pulling the carpet and installing dynamat insulation. That stuff really works well. The heat is generated by the exhaust pipes that run under the car. Guys that have put on sidepipes report that the heat problem goes away.

I've got the same problem on my 72, I'm going to check into that dynamat insulation.  Thanks for the tip!

I ordered an insulation kit from JC Whitney, it comes with foil backed insulation (enough to do front and back for sound deadening also), contact cement, foil tape, for less than $60 and it works wonders.

Would I find that online?? Can you provide a part number.  Where do you get the dynomat? With the summer heat it's difficult to spend more than 30 minutes in the car. Can't wait for winter LOL.

The transmission tunnel is the main culprit for heat . Check and see you still have the formed fit tunnel insulation ($50 or less). You have to get under the car and look above the transmission. If it is still present and and intact try installing Hushmat or a similar product on the top of the transmission hump and below your seats and floor boards. I found it on Amazon for about $100. It's a day job, but worth it.

;)I put the tunnel mat back on under my wifes 76 and put dynamat from front to rear and the heat issue seams to be corrected. Wink Tongue
