I worked at a time in an automotive upholstery shop and did many of these seats and remember they are tricky, take your time and work the cover.A few things that may be helpful:
buy quality covers from a reputable supplier.Remember, they are custom sewn and really must be on the money,I remember some that fit like garbage bags,we had to stuff with so much foam they ended up looking like a Caddy pillow seat.On the flip side if they are too small you could tear them rolling them into place. Its never a bad idea to replace the cushion foam with the covers/Also if availabe buy the rod installation kit.Re-using the original rods sometimes is tough because they bow over time and also rust themselves into the sleeve they slide into.
Helpful tricks of the trade:
Keep a can of spray silicne nearby.it aids the covers sliding over the foam,it would suprise you the difference it makes.
Get a spray bottle and lightly mist the suede (inside) of leather seats.DONT DRENCH!,just dampen. As the water dries tje leather will slightly shrink and tighter the cover, eliminating small wrinkles. The dampness also allows the leather to stretch a little. Please dont soak!
Steam is the way to go for vinyl.Use one of those household handheld steamer used for cleaning. If it has a hose, better.Steam allows vinyl to be stretched and takes wrinkles out real good.Be careful, make sure tip of nozzle isnt going to blow steam right throug cover, work on the inside.DONT EVER STEAM LEATHER!Also watch out for steam burns, they hurt! Hope this is helpful.
