 :)HI. AS I WAS MASKING MY 71 FOR A NEW PAINT JOB  I NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE HALF SHAFT WAS 3 IN. AND THE DRIVERS WAS 2 1/2 IN. I AM VERY NEW TO THESE STINGRAYS AND WONDERED IF THIS WAS NORMAL.  THANKS

I believe the 68-73 were 2-1/2" diameter. The 74-82 were 3" diameter.

THANKS CHUCK,BUT WOULD MY 71 HAVE A 3 INCH ON THE RIGHT REAR AND A 2 1/2 ON THE LEFT REAR?  IS THIS NORMAL?     THANKS IN ADVANCE:)

I have never heard of this scenario, but what I think Chuck was saying is that someone has replaced a drive shaft with the wrong one.

Yes that's right sounds like someone has installed the wrong half shaft on your car. Strange as it seems the new ZR1 has half shafts of two different diameters Huh

Some of the big blocks and Hi-Po 350s had the larger half shafts........., sounds like someone repaired one and replaced it with the HD larger one.   Don't think it would hurt anything, just a little strange. The use the same bearings and are the same length.

My 70 has smaller ones and I have a set of larger ones from a 74 L-82 I will use to replace them when I need U-joints.
